Rainforest Partnership strives to distinguish itself from other nonprofits in the environmental advocacy and protection space by taking an impact and data-driven approach to the protection of tropical rainforests. We have a clearly stated mission: to protect and regenerate tropical rainforests by working with the people of the forests to develop sustainable livelihoods that empower and respect both people and nature. It is by keeping this mission statement at the forefront of everything we do that we have been able to grow exponentially both in size and in success over the past decade.

Though we as an organization have evolved greatly since our inception on December 17th, 2007, there has been one constant through all our development and transformation, and that constant has been Rainforest Partnership’s Executive Director, Niyanta Spelman. Prior to founding the RP, Niyanta’s vast resume ranged from lobbying in London to consulting in Texas, with each experience building up her skillset and expertise, priming her for the launch of her most passionate endeavour. It takes someone with immense vision, drive, and experience to spearhead a multinational environmental effort, and Niyanta certainly fits the bill. And now, as RP creeps towards its 10th birthday, Niyanta Spelman has been recognized by the Austin Business Journal’s as one of their Profiles in Power!

This is the 23rd Annual Profiles in Power award that the Austin Business Journal is hosting, and there are 85 nominees who have been deemed Influencers and Leaders in Central Texas. As the region has continued to flourish and expand its reputation as one of the nation’s fastest-growing regions, there has been a commensurate increase in the number and caliber of impressive female leaders in positions of power throughout the Austin area’s nonprofits, startups, and enterprises. This event is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the wealth of talent and influence evident in the ever-growing pool of powerful female figures with whom we work, and it is truly and honor and a privilege to see the RP’s fearless leader being acknowledged for her hard work and dedication.

We at the Rainforest Partnership are incredibly proud to be represented among this group of individuals. Many thanks to the Austin Business Journal for hosting this wonderful event that provides recognition to some of the most deserving people in this region. And, as always, many thanks to Niyanta for lending your passion and experience to the world’s tropical rainforests. I’m sure they’re thanking you too.
